A 58 year old passenger, Dr. Shekar S, a Mysurean, was travelling from Bengaluru to Mysuru on the Tipu Superfast Express on March 9 2015, and the journey was to complete in three hours only. The person got reservation into AC C1 coach. During the journey the passenger realized that the AC was not working and he complained the same to the AC mechanic. The mechanic tried to fix it but all efforts went in vain and caused increasing suffocation which affected passenger’s health.
The complainant brought the complaint of inconvenience in the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for demanding refund along with compensation due to suffocating journey.
The judgment came into favor of the aggrieved person to be awarded compensation of Rs 12000 and refund of the ticket fare as well by South Western Railway.
