Srikanth wins second super series in a row, this time Australian Open

 

The last two weeks has been a dream run for World no.11 k. Srikanth. Yesterday he won Australian open defeating the Olympic champion Chen Long for the second straight Super series crown with in a fortnight. Srikanth won the match with 22-20, 21-16 points in a 46 minute clash with Chinese Chan long, who is two time England champion.

So far in 2017, he has won 17 matches out of 23 including two tournament titles and runner up in one. He is currently ranked 11 with 51603 points and is looking forward for world championship in august to be played England.

Following the win, the badminton Association announced 5 lakh cash prize for the shuttler. Gopichand, India’s chief National coach, is all praise for Srikanth’s win and said “I was pleased with the way he changed the strategy half way through the second game and which he did in style”.

Reacting to Srikanth’s win Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted “I congratulate him for yet another wonderful win”.

Sania Mirza tweeted “on fire love it… huge congratulations once again keep rolling”. Sachin Tweeted “Heartiest congratulations. Proud of you champion”. To which Srikanth replied “Thank you sir. Your tweet is like a billion wishes for me. Will keeping giving my best for my country”.
